One Swipe Wonders

Fall always reignites my love of makeup. During the hot, sticky New York summers I leave my makeup by the wayside because I can’t be bothered to spend even 10 minutes on makeup that I know is going to melt off the second I walk outside.

In the fall, however, the warm-toned red and browns call my name and I start loving makeup again. As I’ve started packing boxes and preparing for my big move next week, I’ve been staying up later and later and can’t drag myself out of bed early enough to devote more than a few minutes to my face before work.

When I find myself in a time crunch I reach for these eyeshadow sticks and simply swipe and go. My favorite of the bunch is the Giorgio Armani Eye Tint #9 Cold Copper. I apply the tint all over the lid and press it in with my ring finger. This is easily the glossiest of the bunch but it makes a bold bronzey statement with very little effort.

For a slightly more matte look I go for the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colors in Rose Gold and Amethyst. These are both beautiful on their own but the combination of the two is my favorite way to wear them. I smudge Rose Gold all over the lid and after pressing it in I put Amethyst in the outer crease of my eye and blend the two together with my finger. The result is a deep, slightly-smoky eye that looks a lot more difficult to do than it actually is.

The Trish McEvoy 24-hour Eyeshadow & Eyeliner in Smoky Quartz is very similar to the Laura Mercier Amethyst but with more noticeable glitter. I tend to use this one more for nights out and use it as a crease color. This is a great dupe for the By Terry Ombre Blackstore in Misty Rock that everyone and their mother was obsessed with earlier this year. This one is $11.50 less expensive than the By Terry version and imparts a similar purple glittery sheen.

Easily the most dramatic of the bunch is the Charlotte Tilbury Color Chameleon in Bronzed Garnet. Even though this one is labeled as a color for green eyes, if you have any green hints in your eyes this will bring it out in full force! This is such a flattering color and I really love its drama, but after the first use I started to notice that the cap doesn’t fit properly and the product dries out significantly with time. The patchy application is annoying but I persevere because I love the color that much.

Wow they all look absolutely stunning! The one that stood out the most to me though was the Trish McEvoy 24-Hour Eyeshadow & Eyeliner Smoky Quartz. I love the pinky peach undertones. Such a great post, and it’s definitely inspired me to get some eyeshadow sticks.

I’m such a huge fan of the Laura Mercier shadow sticks- I’m adding Rose Gold to my shopping list! Amethyst is one of my favorite shadows to wear solo, too!!
